Currently, Sweet Pea Therapy Group accepts most major medical plans and private pay. At this time, we do not accept Medicaid.
Therapy Rate: $80.00 Therapy sessions are 30 minutes and consist of one-on-one skilled interventions targeting specific speech and language skills and are tailored to each child's needs. Following each session, the parent will be provided with feedback regarding the session and given strategies to use outside of the therapy session.
Evaluation Rate: Rates are based on the type of evaluation. Contact our office for more information.
Referrals
If you or your child's pediatrician have concerns about speech and language development, contact Sweet Pea Therapy Group.
A member of our team will schedule a screening to determine if there is evidence of a delay/disorder or if your child's communication skills are normal for their age. If the screening results show that your child's communication is normal for their age, direct speech therapy will not be recommended. If screening results show that further testing is needed, an evaluation will be scheduled. Based on evaluation results, therapy services may be recommended, or a referral may be made to another professional.

Ideally, your child will attend all of their scheduled therapy sessions. However, we understand that life happens. Please call or email the office to reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours before your appointment. Cancellations within 24 hours will be subject to a $25 rescheduling fee.

If you choose private pay and with your permission, Sweet Pea Therapy Group will keep your credit card or debit card on file, and payment will be charged within 24 hours of the visit.

Yes. Evaluations range from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Evaluations can consist of professional observation/play-based assessment, parent/teacher consultation, checklists, language/speech sample, or formal assessment tools. A comprehensive evaluation report will be provided to the family that can be shared with their pediatrician, education agency, or other professionals. If speech and language therapy is recommended, the therapist will work with your family to develop an individualized treatment plan for your child.

The amount of time that a child needs therapy is dependent on the severity of the communication delay or disorder, parent/caregiver participation, the child's engagement in therapy sessions, dedication to home practice, and attending therapy sessions consistently. At Sweet Pea Therapy Group, we develop therapy plans that are individual to each child. Each of these therapy plans are updated every 6 months.

While we cannot provide services at your child's school, we can come to your home or an after-school site for therapy. In addition, if you would like to share your child's IEP goals with us, we can integrate those targeted skills in an environment outside of the school setting.

If your child shows evidence of a speech and language delay as determined by an evaluation provided by Sweet Pea Therapy Group, then services can be provided even if they did not meet the criteria for an IEP with the school system.

Following a screening and evaluation conducted by Sweet Pea Therapy Group, a therapist will work with your family to develop an individualized treatment plan for your child. Frequency of therapy sessions is determined by each child's needs and family/therapist schedules. Most therapy sessions are 30 minutes once a week.

Sweet Pea Therapy Group uses a HIPAA-secure online platform for video conference therapy. An adult must be present with the child and have access to a device with a camera and microphone and a reliable internet connection. Just like during in-home visits, we incorporate toys, books, and visual aids into teletherapy sessions.

During our therapy sessions, the therapist often integrates toys and activities that are relevant to your child's interests to promote communication development and motivate your child to relay their thoughts and ideas through play.

Speech–Language Pathologists (SLPs) are health professionals who identify, diagnose, and treat communication disorders or delays. In North Carolina, a Speech-Language Pathologist is required to have a master's degree, have acquired their C's (Certificate of Clinical Competence), and pass the national exam for Speech-Language Pathology.

At Sweet Pea Therapy Group, we encourage families and caregivers to "watch and learn" and take part in the communication journey with the child.

Screenings are $25.00 and are typically one or two short measures of your child’s communication skills. Screenings lasts 15-30 mins and utilize a variety of screening tools (e.g., professional observation, parent/teacher consultation, checklists, or standardized screeners). An official screening report will be provided with recommendations for an evaluation, monitoring of your child’s development, referral to other professionals, and/or no further testing needed because speech and language skills are age-appropriate.
